Bookworm problems 101: fictional books toying with our emotions.

Hey guys, busy has been my motto this week since Friday, that's why you haven't seen any updates on the blog. But let's just go down to business and relate with some basic stuff. So lately I've been doing a lot of reminiscing and realized that most of the influences I had came from books. Some bad and some good. Let me begin with THE BOOK that really shaped my small fragile mind; The Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Adichie. Being a young, curious little girl I won't lie and tell you I was mentally strong enough or held my Faith in high esteem because I didn't. There were times when absurd knowledge did appeal to me a great deal and I filled my head with all sorts. Let me not digress and tell you why Purple Hibiscus was THE BOOK that changed a lot of my perspective especially towards family. Ever read a book and you could feel the originality of emotions oozing out of the words and hitting you hard at each turn? That's what that book was for me. Chimamanda h...

Bookworm problems101. Can you relate?

I've been meaning to talk about this, even though I don't know where or how to begin. Throughout my years of being a bibliophile I've realized so many silly reading habits of mine that I need to get rid off. Unfortunately, this is the first problem we all face. My TBR list is crying everyday to be read. I'm suffering from this and really hate it because it's not right. Jokes apart, having a loooonnggg TBR list is terrible. Simply means as individual you lack self control and patience because I tell you the truth that those new bestsellers are not going anywhere, they'll always be there for us no matter what. So it's better to finish the current ones before buying new books(I know we love the smell of a new book) but I realize that the longer my TBR list grew, the more impatient I get with the current book I'm reading. Where it gets so bad is when we we finally finish up the book we were reading and because we're such in a haste to begin a new one...

Don't read on the road, you'll bump into a wall!

So the above picture has a quote which was said by the famous Oprah Winfrey and it really blesses my heart to know such an influential woman is a bookworm too. But I discovered this bad habit of hoarding books when I'm not done with the ones I'm currently reading. I really want to stop😬 but then a book cover on Instagram or Pinterest steals your glance or whatever and you're swooning all over again, ha! So you see how hard it is for me? I'm just on day five of TPDL by Rick Warren(check previous blog posts for the books we're reading) and I love it o but it seems like a devotional now. So I started reading an actual book, The Slight Edge and it's amazing too. Don't worry, I'm saving Children of blood and bone for the last😎. Been seeing so many spoilers on the gram and I can definitely tell it's a good book. Book biz aside, how many writers are reading this blog? Anyone? Just indicate in the comments and maybe follow to get more info. So bibliophi...

My bald head photos are hidden here, make sure you read to the end!

So I turned bald and the reactions have been priceless, ha! I have been reading too and trust me the fresh air hitting my exposed scalp just makes me happy I made that decision. So far so good I'm loving the book and I'm not giving any spoilers until I'm done. Recently been seeing a lot of posts about cultivating the habit of reading which makes me smile. Finally decided on a date for my book club! February 13, yayyyy. I'm excited 💃. Just get ready to expect loads of fun and so much more when the time comes. Speaking to my Lord a lot and I feel so thankful for how far he's brought me. He keeps assuring me of the good things to come especially concerning our book club. So who's with me? I'll be preparing forms though for y'all so I can know your interests and thoughts and expectations. So much books to read and we'll create time for it. So please don't hesitate to tell your friends who like to read but somehow struggle to do it. I cannot wait. ...

Breezy day, bookish ways.

So some of y'all have already started on the books I recommended and it makes me happy. I started mine not quite long ago and I have to say it feels good just having your favorite snack with that rechargeable fan blowing the heat right off you and a pillow at the base of your neck just in case you sleep off(I know it's a sin but sometimes sleep can knock you off). Big thank you for reading my stuff. By the end of the month I'll be giving reviews about the three books we're reading, so just hold on. Today is definitely the best day for reading. Although, I have been seeing some posts on Instagram concerning people's list of books to read for the year. Some of them are even done reading one or two off their lists(makes me feel lazy). Unfortunately, there are so many books but so little time. So here's what I did, I created a pie and put sections in it of my various activities for the day. So each section of activity will depend on the amount of time it dema...

Sigh. This is urgent!

Wait wait wait. You really thought I won't write today huh? I told myself I'll write after I go to the toilet😭😭😭. If I see another fried chicken, I'll puke. I didn't write yesterday because y'all were too busy getting stuffed. School's gonna resume soon and my book list keeps piling up. But it's new year and I'm starting with one of the most important books in my life: The Word of God. I know we went to church and our various leaders spoke so many verses to us about 2019. But have we heard what the Author has to say personally to us? Hehehehe. We have made plans and goals and bought journals(hope you have one) but what is He saying to us? * Belch* I drank malt before I slept. Overeating really makes your vision blurry Sha. So top three books we're going to be reading this month of January: The purpose driven life by Rick Warren The Slight edge by Jeff Olson Children of blood and bone by Tomi Adeyemi. Sigh. I'm reading thos...
